ICRI International Projects
ICRI's international work spans three continents, bringing comprehensive child-focused programs to some of the world's most vulnerable communities. Our international offices serve as regional hubs, implementing innovative solutions that address the interconnected challenges of gender discrimination education, health, nutrition, and community development.
Our Global Approach:
Our international projects are built on the understanding that children's wellbeing depends on strong communities and families. We work directly in informal settlements, rural areas, and underserved regions, partnering with local schools, organizations and governments to create sustainable, community-driven solutions.
Each of our international offices adapts our core mission to local contexts while maintaining our commitment to:
Early Childhood Education that provides quality learning opportunities for the youngest children.
Nutrition is integrated into our early childhood education program to support brain development, healthy growth, and long-term well-being of children in Kenya and Zimbabwe.
Integrated Health Services that ensure children and families have access to essential medical care.
Community Strengthening that builds local capacity and creates lasting change.
Family Support that addresses the broader needs of children's caregivers and communities.
Where We Work:
Kenya
Operating as our regional hub for Africa since 2005, ICRI Kenya focuses on early childhood education and comprehensive family support in Nairobi's informal settlements. Our programs serve over 125 children through dedicated early childhood centers while expanding community health and sanitation infrastructure.
Nepal
Since 2001, ICRI Nepal has pioneered innovative approaches to supporting vulnerable children and families, from those affected by parental incarceration to emergency health preparedness. Our work includes building networks of local organizations and developing specialized programs that address Nepal's unique challenges.
Zimbabwe
Established in 2007, ICRI Zimbabwe combines direct service delivery with capacity building for local organizations. Our programs support early childhood education, girls' education, and a nationwide network of grassroots organizations serving children and families. Currently, ICRI Zimbabwe supports 47 children and 62 young girls.
Impact Through Partnership:
Our international work is distinguished by our commitment to partnership and local ownership. We work alongside existing community structures, government agencies, and local NGOs to ensure our programs are sustainable and culturally appropriate. This collaborative approach has enabled us to reach thousands of children and families while building lasting institutional capacity in each region.
Through our international projects, ICRI demonstrates that with the right support, even the most challenging circumstances can be transformed into opportunities for children to thrive.
