MISSION
Our mission is to improve the lives of children and
families throughout the world, enabling them to survive and
succeed.
Since 1981,
ICRI has been providing services for families and children locally and
around the world. ICRI makes a difference by providing technical
assistance and consultation to a wide variety of national and
international organizations, businesses, governments, non-profits and
others interested in such children’s issues as child care, child abuse
prevention, child survival, maternal and child health, placement
alternatives for abandoned and traumatized children and the promotion of
children’s rights.
Using an
extensive information base of model national and international children’s
programs, ICRI is able to bring the best from around the world to each
consultation or project. The most up-to-date and appropriate data
regarding programs, needs assessments, curricula, facility development,
program implementation and evaluation, training, cost effectiveness, tax
advantages and more is incorporated into each contract or
project.
ICRI has
offices or collaborates with organizations around the world to provide
services to children and families.
HISTORY
In 1978, a group of noted child advocates meeting in
Stockholm identified the lack of a linking system to provide access to
information on programs serving children and families throughout the
world. Although excellent programs
existed regionally, there was no system in place to assemble, analyze, and
disseminate related information worldwide.
ICRI was created in 1981 to draw together this
information and provide an international linkage between agencies, organizations,
and individuals concerned with children and families. This linkage then allowed ICRI to refine and reproduce programs
of proven success.
ICRI now provides consultation and technical
assistance, implements new projects, and delivers resource, referral, and
information services to local and international groups.
Our philosophy is to maximize the use of previously
tested models, best practices, and innovative resources, thereby bringing the
best from around the world to each consultation or project for maximum benefit
to children and their families.
